A first person shooter wouldn't be much with out guns. And a fan site about that first person shooter wouldn't be much without oodles of information about those guns.

That's why where proud to announce the MAG Gunopedia - a database of all known guns in MAG. Note that you can comment on the guns. Our hope is that you can leave tips and information on how to get the most out of each firepiece.

MAG's beta kicked off today but it was the game's servers getting most of the attention. They were as overburdened as the car to the right and acted like it.

Beta testers reported a myriad of problems, most of them relating to connection issues. MAG Guide tried to keep track of the problems here and here.

To Zipper's credit, they have been working on the problem throughout the day. They made a strong effort to keep fans updated on their official forums.

And before you get your camos in a bunch, don't forget this is a beta.

The MAG beta dropped today. Many downloaded. Few played. Overloaded servers are keeping gamers from getting on.

The beta has dropped and--being a beta--has some issues. Here's a tally of the known ones so far.

Cannot Deploy In Group

A lot of people are having this issue. We're a bit shocked it even made it this far into beta testing since playing with friends is such a key component of the game.

The MAG Game Guide Wiki is now up and running. Anybody from the community can edit Wiki pages and add new ones.

MAG's official release is less than a month away but there's no reason to wait that long to start playing. On January 4th, the game's makers will launch a free beta version of the game available to anybody with a PS3.

Even though the beta doesn't unlock for a few more days, you can download the game now so you won't have to wait to play on the 4th. Here's how:

On the official MAG forums, posters have asked over and over again about headsets. In a game like MAG, your headset will be crucial so consider this a must-read FAQ if you don't already have one.

Can I use a headset during beta?

Yep. That was an easy one.

Is a headset required?

No.

Is a headset recommended?

Yep. In any multiplayer game that emphasizes teamwork, a team with players communicating via headset will have a huge advantage.

MAG is no exception. Playing this game without a headset is like partaking in a knife fight with a fork. You're at a disadvantage.
