Update: This issue has been reported fixed as of 3/2/2010.

Read this article. If you have a non-slim PS, please do not turn on your system to avoid problems. Sony's working on a fix. It seems Heavenly may have encountered this problem.

 Says Sony:

"As you may be aware, some customers have been unable to connect to the PlayStation Network today. This problem affects the models other than the new slim PS3.

"We believe we have identified that this problem is being caused by a bug in the clock functionality incorporated in the system.

"Errors include:

  • The date of the PS3 system may be re-set to Jan 1, 2000.When the user tries to sign in to the PlayStation Network, the following message appears on the screen; "An error has occurred. You have been signed out of PlayStation Network (8001050F)".
  • When the user tries to launch a game, the following error message appears on the screen and the trophy data may disappear; "Failed to install trophies. Please exit your game."
  • When the user tries to set the time and date of the system via the Internet, the following message appears on the screen; "The current date and time could not be obtained. (8001050F)"
  • Users are not able to play back certain rental video downloaded from the PlayStation Store before the expiration date.

"We hope to resolve this problem within the next 24 hours. In the meantime, if you have a model other than the new slim PS3, we advise that you do not use your PS3 system, as doing so may result in errors in some functionality, such as recording obtained trophies, and not being able to restore certain data."

call me slim

I had no problems.  Hackers in my squad is a problem though.  Dude named ianInsanity was glitching on my squad last night. He and another wierdo were TKing and voting to kick me from the syart of the battle.  He had some kind of block on his profile so you couldn't kick him.  If you press start, lookc at his name, theres a red square next to it and you can't access anything of his.  Everyone was getting upset and some guys just left the game.  I decided to stick around for a while.  See, I ran into this iaNinSaNity before along with phantom and a couple other of the boys.  He was rude to everyone calling names and what not but the best part was after he res'd me, I ran backwards.  Happened to phantom also.  Well, same stuff, couldn't kick him and after some verbal battles with him, we endured it and at the end, I told him if I seen him again, he wouldn't like it.  Well, last night was just that time.  I proceeded to follow him and sever his spinal chord every chance I got until he left the game.  All in all 3 times.  I'm not proud of TKing but I would do it again if I see him again.  If people would play the game right and not be internet terrorists, we'd be better off.

what a fag

....that guy was a douche, and the fact that he keeps doing it is a serious problem. Zipper needs to look into this foolishness, before people start posting how to do this stupid shit.

MAG forum

Have you guys gone to the official MAG forums and spoke with any admins?  With World of Warcraft, for example, they weren't able to identify the hacks unless players blew the lid on them.
